ICFF “Manaki Brothers” this year observes two important film anniversaries: 100 years since the birth of the great Ingmar Bergman, one of the best film directors of all time, and 60 years since the premiere of the Macedonian film “Miss Stone”. These commemorations are organized by the Cinematheque of Macedonia, which has been a partner of the festival for 39 years, as Cinematheque Director Vladimir Angelov said.
“Bergman’s films still live in the cinema halls and on TV, his works are still the subject of analysis of theorists, but there is another, not so well-known fact about Bergman, which is that he had an important role in the process of archiving films. In his honour we will screen one of the best films ever made – “Persona” (1966).
When it comes to Miss Stone, it is one of the most successful Macedonian films that the older generations might remember, but the younger ones do not, which is why we have decided to screen it in the wonderful setting of the “Magaza” in Bitola, be accompanied with an interesting exhibition telling us the story of this film starting from its conception to the successes it reaped”, Angelov said. The festival video, prepared by director Vardan Tozija in collaboration with the McCann Agency from Skopje and Vertigo visual, as well as the young collaborators from FDA from Skopje also premiered at the press-conference.
The communication partner of the 39 edition of the ICFF “Manaki Brothers” is the marketing agency “McCann Skopje” which signs the creative concept “Hats off” and the visual identity of the festival, the inspiration for which originated exactly in the respect for all filmmakers.
